WORSE

Shell shocked!  Took Merlin, who was not doing all that great, for a week later check up.  His kidneys are shutting down.  The vet is keeping him over night on a drip to help him.  But only so we can bring him home for a weekend of cuddles and crab (his favourites) and then they have advised us we will have to let him go.  I am wrecked.  Justice was a mess when I told him, but has since become completely pragmatic about it.  I can't believe it!  I love this cat - and he is just a baby!  This is old man cat disease... we have had to make the appointment for Monday, but if he is doing ok then we can wait until Tuesday when our regular vet is back at work...

HOME

Not quite his usual chipper self, and unfortunately shaved, but he is home!  Merlin is resting as much as he can (alongside his teddy), and hopefully will soon be well.

TRAGIC

Absolutely tragic --- our little Merlin got a little bit sick Sunday, and by yesterday morning he was a wreck.  I took him straight to the vet first thing in the morning and it turned out his little bladder was blocked.  He had to have some serious surgery, but they think he will be fine afterwards since he is so young (not even three).  It was such a shock, and then quite scary - the vet thought he burst Merlin's bladder when he tried to relieve some of the fluid pressure.  Merlin was rushed to another surgery right away...  Poor little thing... he is eating a little today, but his blood results were some of the worst they had ever seen.  Its a bit of wait and see.

NEW WHEELS

Finally (after rolling ours over and writing it off early last month) we secured new wheels on Monday... honestly, we both loved the iload we had rented, but we could never afford one... Anyway, as soon as we signed on the dotted line for the new (to us) van, it started POURING... for days... to give you an idea, this park isn't even near a body of water or anything... Since the accident was in the rain, I am unimpressed... but coping.

FOURTH GRADE

WHAT?! MY LITTLE CUTIE IS NOW A FOURTH GRADER!

MORE THAN THEATRE

Just in case you were worried that all we do is go see plays...  he also gets to play with heaps of lego... and has spent a bit of time building a variety of body part models... (Justice particularly likes the hand, which has interior veins and muscles and bones as well)... All of this is when he is NOT playing his computer...  no siblings, no yard - but plenty of entertainment!

JUICY FRUIT

Justice and I were very lucky to see the final show of James and the Giant Peach at QPAC.  We absolutely loved the performance, especially the way it began.  Of course, running up the stairs of the Empire State Building was exhausting... but it was so much fun!  I think I liked it better than Mary Poppins.  Shorter, simpler and more basic sets, but this is the first time we have been to the Cremone Theatere and the small intimate setting is perfect for a children's show!
