FROG POND

The big news is this weekend Justice and I built a frog pond. Yesterday we bought a few odds and ends, dug a hole, installed a bamboo fence (to guard against cane toads) and prepared the pond (we were expecting rain to fill it). Today we went and collected tadpoles from a lovely woman in Shailer Park (a frog-a-holic who is being overrun) and we shall soon have green tree frogs and graceful green frogs... We used to have a resident treefrog, and have missed him, so we're hoping one of our tadpoles decides to stick around once they're big frogs...

ALL ABOUT OUR WEEKEND...

The news about these photos is all broken down below... it has been a busy, but lovely, few days...

Justice went to Prep

Unfortunately we weren't able to attend the Incoming Student Orientation held last week at Justice's new school. When I called to try and schedule an opportunity for Justice and I to go in for an orientation, the teacher surprised me by saying that Justice could come in alone for the morning on Friday. He was fine! Me - I was totally overwhelmed by my baby going alone to big kid school!
I am really pleased with our choice of Rivermount, and the teacher was lovely (I'm requesting her) but I have severe reservations about school and Justice. I really don't think that the Prep program, even the academically strong one at Rivermount, is sufficient for his needs. I feel that the school system is set up fine if you have an average child, but if you have someone particularly quick and bright, you're at a real disadvantage when you enter the school system. I am hoping for the best while preparing myself for an uphill battle...

We had a staff Christmas dinner...

We thought that we should suuport one of our regular customers who just started opening for dinner service this weekend. We also knew that if we waited too long there would be too many weekend commitments to allow our staff to all attend. For the first time, we had all of our staff members together. Their schedules are so varied, its likely they won't meet again until we do this over next year. Dinner at The Corridor was DELICIOUS! We had a Christmas Trivia Quiz that our Apprentice won, and generally just had a great dinner out. Justice especially loved the evening out (as you can see).

We were a featured supporter...

Our bread was featured at this school fundraiser. Usually sausage sizzles use plastic grocery breads, so it was a really lovely change. For them to post our banner and make comments about the preservative and additive free bread was awesome!

Justice had time to ride his scooter...

Grandpa America sent Justice a scooter months ago which has always been a GREAT favourite.
